Dental Crowns/Caps

Crowns are a treatment option when damage, whether from decay or injury, requires that a significant portion of a tooth be removed. If a crown is not placed on the tooth, it could be at risk for cracking, breaking, or falling out. The crown restores the structural integrity of the tooth, allowing it to function normally during eating and speaking. Crowns are custom-made to fit the damaged tooth, and can be made of metal or tooth-colored porcelain that exactly matches the rest of your teeth. Dental Bridges

If you have a missing tooth, or have a tooth that must be removed, Dr. Rosen and Dr. Dworkin encourage you to consider a bridge to fill the gap. Gaps between teeth can cause the other teeth in the mouth to “drift,” or come out of alignment, and can even cause problems with your bite. A bridge is a permanent, prosthetic tooth that is attached to the adjoining teeth. It is a realistic-looking appliance that fills the gap left by the missing tooth, stops your other teeth from drifting, and maintains the health and beauty of your smile.

Dentures and Partial Dentures

Over a lifetime of use, the teeth can wear down, weaken, become injured, or be affected by periodontal disease. They may start to ache or stop performing properly while you are speaking or chewing. For some people, dentures are an ideal solution to these problems. Full dentures replace the entire set of natural teeth in the mouth, while partial dentures replace only a few teeth. Dr. Rosen and Dr. Dworkin can help you assess your dental health and determine if dentures are an option for you. Dental Implants

Before we can place your implant restoration, we will arrange for a periodontist or oral surgeon to perform the surgical portion of the implant procedure. The specialist will insert a small metal post into your jaw, below the gum line. At this point, a temporary denture or tooth can be affixed to the post for the duration of the healing process. The denture can be fixed in place or removable.

After a few months, the post is ready to act as a new “root” or anchor for a custom-made prosthetic tooth. Dr. Rosen or Dr. Dworkin will remove your temporary denture and attach the restoration. Root Canals

When a cavity causes an infection and reaches the pulp of a tooth, endodontics or root canal therapy is necessary. If your tooth has been severely damaged, a root canal may be necessary as well. While routine visits to the dentist can help prevent the need for root canals, once the tooth pulp has been infected, it must be treated to prevent problems in the future. This is because the infection is unable to heal itself. Sensitivity to hot or cold foods, bad taste in your mouth, or pain and swelling are all signs you may have an infected pulp. In some cases, patients do not exhibit any obvious symptoms and are unaware of the issue until they are at a routine visit with their dentist.

During treatment, the canals of the tooth are disinfected and the pulp is cleaned out. The tooth canal is the filled to prevent further infections. This helps speed the healing process. For some patients, a bonded post, crown or bridge will be utilized to restore function to the infected tooth.
